The Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) have as their main results and recommendations not only cyclical internal and external evaluations of higher education institutions and/or their programmes, but also a periodical review of European quality assurance agencies. This report gives an overview of the background and puporses of external reviews, and presents the perspectives and experiences of agencies and expert teams on the review process.
