The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a center of excellence within the Helmholtz Association that performs translational research on Neurodegenerative Diseases. The center includes nine high-performing sites in Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tübingen and Witten.
Population Research at the DZNE aims to study determinants of normal and pathological mental and physical function over the adult life course, with a special emphasis on neurodegenerative diseases. To this end the team, led by Prof. Monique M.B. Breteler, Director of Population Health Sciences of the DZNE, is establishing the Rhineland Study, a prospective population based cohort study that will include up to 30,000 people aged 30 years and over. The cohort emphasizes extensive phenotyping. The study facilities encompass 3 recruitment centers equipped with state-of-the art apparatus including 3T MRI scanners, advanced bio-banking facilities and large data storage and computational resources.

Executive assistant (f/m) of the Director of Population Health Sciences – Code 1284/2014/12
Tasks:
Responsibilities include general support of the director in leading the Rhineland Study and population research. This includes but is not limited to human resource management, meeting preparation and follow-up, conceptual work (analyses/evaluations), preparation of talks as well as correspondence. The position also requires active linkage to the administration of the DZNE as well as to national and international collaboration partners.
Qualifications and experience:
We are looking for a candidate with a university degree and a PhD in a relevant research field (epidemiology, medicine, psychology, biology or other related area). Working experience in a bridging function between science and administration is highly appreciated. The candidate must be fluent in both German and English, and have excellent communication and writing skills. Solid knowledge of the organization and structure of the German and international research area and their several funding mechanisms is an asset.
