JGU Profile Area ReALity - Resilience, Adaptation and Longevity

Project Coordinator 

Full-time (100 %)

As a joint initiative of the Mainz life sciences, ReALity is supported by more than 200 researchers and represents translational research foci of the University Medicine (Immunology, Immunotherapy, Cardiovascular Biology and Neurosciences) as well as the basic molecular research of the Department of Biology. ReALity focuses on promoting internationally visible competencies in interdisciplinary ageing research, translational biomedicine, immunotherapy and RNA technology through strategic recruitments, expansion of research infrastructures, and fostering of research networks involving biology, medicine and their interactions with computer science, physics, and chemistry.

Your tasks will include:

  • Supporting the executive board in all organizational and administrative matters, incl. supporting the recruitment of members to ReALity
  • Administration of the initiative’s finances, incl. financial reporting and maintaining budget databases
  • Regular preparation, support and postprocessing of board and project meetings
  • Participation in the preparation of proposals, reports and publications
  • Preparing and editing text documents and presentations as well as compiling statistics
  • Planning, organisation and documentation of seminars, scientific meetings and public outreach measures as well as guest visits and on-site reviews
  • Maintaining the initiative’s website
  • Serving as the first point of contact for the members of the university, external partners and institutions

Your profile:

Completed scientific university studies in the field of biology, medicine or a related field, preferably with a PhD. A very good command of English and German (written and spoken) is required. At least 2 years of work experience in the field of scientific management is necessary.

  • Prior knowledge and experience in the following areas are strongly recommended:
  • Project management
  • Applicable procurement policies and regulations, budgetary law, and proper accounting for funds management
  • Scientific personnel recruitment
  • Event management and public outreach measures
  • Website content management (e.g. WordPress)
  • Standard PC programmes (MS Office, incl. Teams; Zoom; Adobe Acrobat)
  • Working in an international academic environment

Very good organisational skills and attention to detail, excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact professionally with scientists and administrators at all levels are essential. We are looking for a highly motivated, reliable and flexible person with the ability to work independently and creatively within a team.

The position is paid according to EG 13 TV-L and is to be filled immediately with a contract limited by the current funding period of ReALity until 31.12.2028. You will be working within the group of Prof. Peter Baumann at the Faculty of Biology.
