The Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) conducts research into the acquisition and sharing of knowledge and cooperation with digital media. The Institute is a member of the Leibniz Association (Leibniz Gemeinschaft) and committed to international standards of excellent science.

We are seeking to appoint a committed

Researcher / PhD Position (m/f/d)

at the nearest possible date for a period of 3 years to work on the linking of school-based and out-of-school learning with digital media on the topics of history and political education (e.g. memorials relating to the National Socialist period of German history). The successful applicant will have profound knowledge in the field of empirical (teaching-learning) research as well as an interest in school-related research and digital media. The successful applicant will be expected to write a doctoral thesis on this area of research and will receive explicit support to this end. The scope of employment is 65%.

Your tasks:

• Design, implementation, evaluation and documentation of empirical studies
• Presentation of research findings at national and international conferences and in publications as well as documentation of these findings in the relevant academic journals
• Collaboration on general Institute-related activities

Your profile:

• Strong interst in the cognitive and motivational processes involved in learning with digital media in the context of history and political education
• Experience in the planning, performance and analysis of empirical studies
• Above-average degree grade (Diplom / Master) in psychology, cognitive science, empirical educational research or related disciplines
• Fluent in German and English
