The offered position is located in the DFG-funded project "Optimizing explicit and implicit buffer management in database systems".

Your tasks:

  • Conduct research on a doctoral project in the context of the DFG-funded project "Optimizing explicit and implicit buffer management in database systems". This entails:
     
  • Design and implementation of new concepts in the context of buffer management. 
  • Experimental evaluation of these concepts against state-of-the-art methods.
  • Writing of research papers which materialize in a PhD thesis at the end of the project duration.
  • Presentation of work at international conferences and workshops.

Your profile:

In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in § 57 of the Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate.
 

  • A Master's degree in computer science or a strongly related field
  • Strong programming skills (preferably C/C++)
  • Interest in system-centric development
  • Be proficient in oral and written English
  • Very good communication skills
  • Be team- and result-oriented
  • A background in data management and/or operating systems (i.e., in form of taken courses) is considered as a plus.

The position is paid according to EG 13 TV-L and to be filled immediately. The position is limited to a period of three years.
 

The position serves the purpose of academic qualification (doctorate).
