Senior Researcher / Post-Doc for the Human Brain Project (part-time, 50%)

We are looking at the earliest date possible for a scientist with a Ph.D. in biology, bio-chemistry, bioinformatics or similar subjects relevant to the direction of the project.

At Technische Universität München (TUM), Department of Informatics, chair of Robotics and Embedded Systems (Prof. Knoll), we participate in the EU flagship Human Brain Project (HBP). As the extended arm of the European Commission we organise open calls for scientific projects, where we manage the entire process from defining the scope of the call, over promoting it, organising the evaluations, up to the funding suggestion for the European Commission. The current runtime of the project is until February 2018, with view to extension.

You will be responsible for conducting several open calls, in particular your tasks will comprise:

  • Align with the project’s scientists regarding the scope of the calls
  • Develop call texts and guidelines for applicants
  • Publicise the calls
  • Select and contract external experts
  • Organise expert meetings
  • Ensure that all calls are conducted with the appropriate methodology and according to the rules of the European Commission

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or similar experience in a subject which is relevant to the direction of the project such as biology, bio-chemistry or bioinformatics
  • Preferably, also established links to other relevant topics such as psychology and informatics
  • The willingness to establish oneself in the management of scientific projects
  • The mindset of a manager, with the ability to be assertive and to multi-task
  • Excellence in structuring complex processes and procedures
  • An open, communicative personality for being in contact with applicants from different scientific communities
  • Fluent proficiency in written and spoken English
  • A high sense of responsibility and the ability to work on one’s own responsibility
  • Superior presentation skills
